Priority Ranking Process and Status

Due to limited Funding, only projects addressing emergency needs, crowded classrooms and aging buildings have been funded. Funding is prioritized in the following categories, and districts are ranked according to need within their categories:

  1. manmade or natural disasters
  2. overcrowding due to population growth or aging buildings
  3. school district reorganization (consolidation or annexation)
  4. severe and continuing health/life safety hazards
  5. provide accessibility for qualified individuals with disabilities
  6. other unique solutions to facility needs

For each priority other than priority five, accessibility for individuals with disabilities, districts are ranked based on the number of inadequately housed students which currently exists in the district. That number is calculated by subtracting the district's current available capacity from the current enrollment.   A district's ranking within a level of priority is then determined by multiplying its current needed capacity by the ratio of its needed capacity to its enrollment. The higher the number, the higher the ranking.

For priority five, the district's needed capacity is the number of qualified individuals with disabilities who require a school construction project.

Grant Awards To Date
This is a 15 page list of all grants issued to date in chronological order. A total of 501 grants have been awarded which have benefited 361 school districts in every region of the state.

Includes 32 new applications (excludes CPS 299). FY07 Application Cycle ended April 1, 2006.

FY06 SCP Application Cycle
Includes 29 new applications (excludes CPS 299). FY06 Application Cycle ended April 1, 2005.

FY05 SCP Application Cycle
Includes 88 new applications (excludes CPS 299). FY05 Application Cycle ended April 1, 2004.

FY04 SCP Application Cycle
Includes 41 new applications (excludes CPS 299). FY04 Application Cycle ended April 1, 2003.

FY03 SCP Application Cycle
Includes 52 new applications and 42 updated applicants (underlined) from the FY02 cycle that were unable to secure local share by June 30, 2002. Total of 94 applications (excludes CPS 299). FY03 Application Cycle ended April 1, 2002. Letters were issued to all FY03 applicants stating that action toward issuing entitlements has been suspended until direction is received from General Assembly and Governor.
