ROE

Regional Superintendents are locally elected officials who administer Regional Offices of Education (ROEs), which are grouped by county or counties throughout Illinois. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) realizes the importance of effective communication and cooperation between ISBE and the ROEs. In order for all Illinois children to succeed in the classroom, it is important to reach out to the very agencies and subunits of government that deliver education to our children.

Enrolled Students by County of Residence Form Word Document

The Illinois State Board of Education has developed a form to assist regional superintendents in fulfilling their responsibilities under the County School Facility Occupation Tax Law (Public Act 095-0675; 55 ILCS 5/5-1006.7).  Regional superintendents can use the Enrolled Students by County of Residence form to collect from their districts the most recent data available with regard to the number of students enrolled in a district on the last school day of September by their county of residence located within the district boundary.  The form may be adapted or customized as necessary.

Adding Subject Qualifications

The ISBE Division of Certification has released information regarding adding subject qualifications for Illinois teachers who have met previous assignment requirements in the past but do not meet current endorsement requirements for specified subjects. A teacher who has met previous requirements for a subject at a time when the requirements were in effect is still qualified and may be assigned to that subject. Regional Offices of Education have the ability to enter these "past qualifications" on TCIS. Please note: this is a voluntary service that Regional Offices of Education may offer. Please see the following for more specific information:
Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency Preparedness Act (210 ILCS 74)

The Illinois Department of Public Health has released a memorandum that addresses important issues pertaining to the Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency Preparedness Act (210 ILCS 74), also known as the Colleen O'Sullivan Law. The law and related rules mandate the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in certain settings. Although the law was enacted January 1, 2005, the volume of questions and concerns prompted the Illinois Department of Public Health to release this memorandum in hopes of clarifying the issue. Please forward this information to your districts as necessary.
