Recording IEP, 504 and ELL Accommodations for Box 10
on ISAT Answer Documents
On the ISAT, each student receiving an accommodation,
regardless if a pre-ID label is used, must have the
accommodation manually coded in Box 10 of his or her answer document
(see sample Box 10 below). Multiple bubbles may be filled
in as appropriate for each section. Please refer to the
District & School Coordination Manual for more information.
ELL Accommodations Guidance Document Posted Online
A guidance document for the 2008 state assessment of
ELLs has been posted on the ISBE website at http://www.isbe.net/assessment/pdfs/guidance_for_ell.pdf.
It should answer many questions related to the policy
and procedures for ELLs this year. Additional questions
may be directed to the Student Assessment Division ISBE
at 217/782-4823.
Translated Directions and Glossaries
Translated test directions and bilingual glossaries
for ISAT have been posted at http://www.isbe.net/assessment/translations.htm.
Directions are available in 10 languages for reading,
mathematics, and science. Word glossaries are available
in 10 languages for mathematics and science (not reading).
ELL Students who will use the glossaries should have
a chance to get familiar with them before the test administration.
ELL Accommodations Phone-In Conferences Scheduled
Phone-in conferences regarding ELL accommodations on
ISAT will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Each
day there will be one in the morning from 10am to 11:30

sessions are for CPS district 299 only. That district
office will announce the details.

Thursday calls-ins. Barry Pedersen will be presenting.
The slides are currently available at this web address,
http://www.isbe.net/bilingual/pdfs/ELL_accommodations.pdf.
Also refer to the guidance document mentioned at the

Additional ISAT Orders
The Pearson Assessment Network is currently accepting
additional orders for ISAT materials. If you need additional
materials, please submit an order as soon as possible.
Important Note Regarding Reader Scripts
Any student being accommodated with a reader script
will have her/his own, standard test booklet to follow
along with the reading. The student’s test booklet
form number must match the form number of the reader
script, as some test items differ from form to form.
All reader scripts match test booklet Form 1. A reader
script will be shipped to your district/school with either
one or three Form 1 test booklets, depending upon the
way it was ordered. Please, take this into account when
planning test sessions that use reader scripts.
