Test Blueprint for the 2014 Illinois Alternate Assessment

Illinois is transitioning to Common Core Essential Elements (CCEEs for reading and mathematics) – moving from the final administration of the Illinois Alternate Assessment (IAA) in 2013-2014 to the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Assessments in 2014-2015; this information is being provided to help educators understand changes in the state assessment.

This document will assist educators in continuing to work on the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and classroom assessments, and maintain focus on the key areas in the preparation for full implementation of the CCEEs and DLM Assessments. The CCEEs can be found on the DLM webpage: English Language Arts http://www.isbe.net/assessment/pdfs/dlm/cc-ee-ela.pdf and Mathematics http://www.isbe.net/assessment/pdfs/dlm/cc-ee-math.pdf

This document outlines what reading and mathematics CCEEs will be assessed on the IAA in 2014. All items on the reading and mathematics assessments were written to the CCEEs.

The 2014 IAA science (grades 4, 7, and 11) and writing (grade 11) assessments will be constructed using the existing Science and Writing Assessment Frameworks.

For the 2014 IAA, there will be a 6-week testing window from February 17 – March 28 to accommodate these changes.
