It has been a month since the E-rate Modernization Order was adopted by the Commission.  We thought that was a sufficient break for you all to hear from us with anything new.  But the modernization process continues…and today we are pleased to make available several items that we hope will be informative and helpful tools as you all consider next steps in the process and prepare comments in response to the Further Notice.

  1. Staff white paper<> from the Wireline Competition Bureau and the Office of Strategic Planning and Policy
  2. Library and School fiber availability maps<>
  3. Public Notice<> announcing availability of the information

In addition, a blog from FCC Managing Director Jon Wilkins has also been posted at Our intent in providing this information is to help stakeholders and the public navigate the large and data-intensive record in the E-rate Modernization proceeding as we consider next steps.  As always, we welcome your feedback and we encourage all parties to submit additional data and analysis into the record.

Best regards,

Patrick Halley
Associate Chief, Wireline Competition Bureau Federal Communications Commission
