All Illinois public schools, including Charter Schools, are required to identify and assess Limited English Proficient students. What are the district’s responsibilities and procedures for screening and/or testing students who are identified as an English language learner, an LEP student? Who is eligible to take The Illinois Measure of Annual Growth in English (IMAGE) exam?
This two-part workshop provides those answers and more! The morning session (9:00 – 11:30) will focus on updates and changes to the IMAGE Test for 2007. Instructional connections and suggestions related to improving literacy skills and test performance will also be included. During the afternoon session (Noon – 3:00), participants will be given the background on English language proficiency testing requirements both from state and federal perspectives; the connections between the Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards and the annual ACCESS® test and much more. This session includes a comprehensive overview of the annual ACCESS® test. The test make-up and sample test items will be presented. Learn what the procedures for screening using W-APT Version 2 encompass; how to be certified to administer ACCESS®, the timeline for ordering testing materials and additional ELL Internet resources that are available to you.
Participants will be given time to familiarize themselves with the WIDA and Desire to Learn (D2L) websites. They will be given guidance on how to access the online training materials and quizzes required administering the ACCESS® test. If you need to get a D2L account in order to be certified to administer the ACCESS® test, you need to obtain your IEIN number from the ECS (the Educator Certification System) or get it from your district personnel office in order to create your own login for the online training on the D2L website. Please bring your IEIN number with you to the workshop to create your account.
