Dear Educators Serving Children:
This is announcement is being forwarded to you by the
Division of English Language Learning.
The Illinois Kids Count Symposium will feature numerous
policy experts, advocates and academics who will discuss
how public policy has profoundly changed children's lives.
Speakers will reflect on the well-being of children over
the last 20 years and will look forward to how public
policies will impact the lives of the next generation
of kids.
Keynote speaker: Mike Lawrence, director of the Paul
Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University
Plenary speakers will include:
- Harriet Meyer, president of the Ounce of Prevention

- Sylvia Puente, director at the Institute for Latino
Studies at the University of Notre Dame
- Jesse Ruiz, chairman of the Illinois State Board
