Ms. Joyce E. Karon brings to her service on the Board a wealth of experience in many aspects of education. As a library-media specialist in the Barrington schools, she designed and implemented library media curriculum, created staff development activities to integrate technology into classrooms, chaired local and state committees which focused on education and technology, served on state library task forces, and worked on numerous referenda. Ms. Karon was formerly an adjunct faculty member at Northern Illinois Universityand an independent consultant for school and public libraries. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and her master’s degree from National Louis University. Joyce Karon is a member of the Education Policy Planning Committee and the Board Operations Committee. In addition, she has served on several study groups sponsored by the National Association of State Boards of Education. Ms. Karon was appointed by Governor Ryan in January 2003 and her term will expire in January 2009. |
