Professional Development Certificate
A professional development option for Initial certificate
holders to move to Standard certification is to receive a
post-baccalaureate, education-related professional development
certificate issued by an Illinois institution of higher education.
Evidence of Completion
The “professional development” certificate represents
verification by a regionally accredited institution of higher
education that an individual has completed an organized program
of student consisting of no fewer than 12 semester hours
of graduate credit that may or may not be linked to pursuit
of a specific graduate degree but is designed to lead to
the individual’s acquisition of a specific set of skills
or knowledge. The required evidence for this “certificate” is
a notation on the individual’s official transcript
indicating that the “certificate” has been awarded.
