Attention Prospective Chicago Public School Substitutes: If
you are interested in substitute teaching for the Chicago
Public Schools (CPS), please note that CPS now also requires
successful completion of a substitute teacher assessment
program. Completion of the assessment is required for applicants
who hold an Illinois Substitute Certificate, have a degree
that is not in the field of education, and have not completed
student teaching. Click
here for more information.
Please Note: The Illinois State Board of Education is
not the hiring entity for school personnel.
Therefore, applicants should contact the school district in
which they plan to work for substitute teaching opportunities.
An issued certificate is not a guarantee of employment.
