Kathy Barclay
 Dr.
Barclay is a Professor of Reading and former department chair
of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Western
Illinois University where she has taught for the past twenty
years. She is author of ISBE's Meeting the Challenge:
Professional Development in Reading series, and co-author
of the Reading First Academy Modules. Dr. Barclay has co-authored
three books and over fifty articles in professional journals,
including a regular column, "Write On," in Children
and Families, the journal of the National Head Start
Association. She currently serves as the Editor for the Illinois
