School Bus Safety

Children are at greatest risk when they are getting on or off the school bus. Most of the children killed in bus-related crashes are pedestrians, five to seven years old. They are hit by the school bus or by motorists illegally passing a stopped bus. In neighborhoods, near schools and bus stops, drivers need to take special care because children do not behave like adults.

It is important to be reminded about the safety of students being transported to and from school and school-related activities. Federal law requires that manufacturers meet stringent safety standards for vehicles used by or for a school district. Please see our very popular brochures below.
