School Bus Safety
Children are at greatest risk when they are getting on or
off the school bus. Most of the children killed in bus-related
crashes are pedestrians, five to seven years old. They are
hit by the school bus or by motorists illegally passing a
stopped bus. In neighborhoods, near schools and bus stops,
drivers need to take special care because children do not
behave like adults.
It is important to be reminded about the safety of students
being transported to and from school and school-related activities.
Federal law requires that manufacturers meet stringent safety
standards for vehicles used by or for a school district. Please
see our very popular brochures below.
