Instructions For Using EXCEL Files
-
This is NOT electronic submission. Excel
files are provided to districts in response to requests
for a method of completing forms on computer. Excel software
(or software capable of opening Excel files) is required
to use these files.
-
Files are formatted for IBM.
- Do NOT return the files to the Illinois State Board of Education. Print the completed form and submit to:

- Once the file is open in Excel, immediately save it to your hard drive or disk. If you have trouble opening the file, do the following:
- Hover over the link and click the right button on your mouse.
- At the pop window, choose Save Target As or Save As.
- Type file name (if not provided) and save to your hard drive.
- Open the file from your hard drive with your Excel application.
- Each page of the printed application appears (in order)
on a separate worksheet in Microsoft Excel. To move from
one worksheet to another, click the tabs at the bottom of
the screen labeled "Page 1," "Page 2,"
etc.
- In most cases you will enter information in the cells
of the spreadsheets and calculations will be done for you.
When working with cells, the tab and/or arrow keys can be
used to move from cell to cell.
- In some cases you will need to enter information in a
text box. Click with the mouse to select the text box. Then
click to position the cursor within the text box. Enter
your response. (Tab and arrow keys can not be used to move
from text box to text box. You will need to use your mouse.)
- Each worksheet has been protected to prevent the inadvertent deletion of formulas. You may need to unprotect the worksheet to add or delete rows, adjust margins, change the font size, etc. To do this, select "Protection" and then "Unprotect Sheet" from the "Tools" menu. A password has not been used. Once the sheet is unprotected, cell formulas are no longer protected.
