Assessments
Foreign Languages Classroom Assessments Aligned to the
Illinois Learning Standards.
The assessments are coded according to standard and stage.
Example: 28A.A is aligned to standard 28A, stage A (first
year of language study). Sample student work, when available,
will follow the assessment.
28A.A - Formal vs. Informal

Indicate whether forms of address in verbal exchanges in the
target language are formal or informal.
28B.A - Greetings and Leave Takings

Give an appropriate verbal response to each spoken statement
or question in a role-playing interaction.
28C.A - Initial Reading 
Match phrases or sentences to pictures and listen to sentences
read in the target language and match them to the printed
versions of those sentences.
28D.A - Family Names 
Draw a family tree using the target language.
29A.A - Greetings and Introductions
Match sentences read by the teacher to pictures.
29B.A - Sing a Song 
Sing a childrens song about a famous figure in the target
language.
29C.A - Recognizing Primary Media
Demonstrate understanding of types of media.
29D.A - Famous Names 
Identify items associated with a country.
29E.A - The Birthplace 
On a world map, identify the country of origin of the target
language and other countries and areas where the target language
is one of the principal languages.
30A.A - Size, Shape, Color 
Demonstrate understanding of simple geometric shapes and compare
them by color and size.
30B.A - Basic Professions 
Using the target language, identify basic occupations common
to the target country(s) and native country.
