Assessments
Foreign Languages Classroom Assessments Aligned
to the Illinois Learning Standards.
The assessments are coded according to standard and
stage. Example: 28A.J is aligned to standard 28A, stage
J (eleventh & twelfth years of language study).
Sample student work, when available, will follow the
assessment.
28A.J - Media Magic 
Demonstrate understanding of a video clip by completing
a summary of the presentation.
28B.J - Researched Discussions
Research a topic of interest in the target language
society to prepare for a discussion.
28C.J - Reading Discovery

Demonstrate understanding of main ideas and significant
details on a variety of topics presented in authentic
literature of the culture.
28D.J - A Courtly Love Poem
Write an imitative thirteenth century Italian Courtly
Love Poem in the target language.
29B.J - A Picture is Worth 1000
Words 
Students will explain the cultural and historical significance
of a painting then use the Internet to research this
work and analyze the varied cultural aspects of the
period.
29B.J - Timely Fashions
Students will research a topic in a selected area where
the target language is spoken.
29C.J - Comparing and Analyzing
Literary Works 
Students will read two short stories by an author and
take notes to write an essay.
29D.J - Meet the Press
Conduct research on a historical event associated with
the target language culture and prepare a news
commentator style format to relate the event.
29E.J - Immigration Scrapbook
Compose a scrapbook, which will serve as an illustrated
time-line beginning at 1000 BCE that presents facts
regarding immigrant groups and their influences upon
the culture of a target language country.
30A.J - Fit for Life Presentation
Students will prepare an in-class presentation in which
they will analyze and contrast diet, nutrition and physical
fitness programs in areas where the target language
is spoken.
30B.J - Choosing a Career
Students will prepare Powerpoint presentations and describe
and evaluate careers of interest that require proficiency
in the target language.
