Science Classroom Assessments Aligned to the Illinois
Learning Standards
The assessments are coded according to learning standard
and stage. Example: 11A.C is aligned to standard 11A, stage
C (third grade).
11A.C - Inquiry Overview
Students will apply the concepts, principles and processes
of scientific inquiry within classroom investigations.
11B.C - Design Overview
Students will apply the concepts, principles and processes
of technological design within classroom investigations.
12A.C - Classifying Living Things
Students will apply the process of scientific inquiry to classify
present life forms and their adaptations.
12B.C - Breaking the Food Chain
Students will apply the process of scientific inquiry to examine
interdependence of organisms in ecosystems.
12C.C - Physical Properties
Students will apply the process of scientific inquiry to analyze
simple properties and changes of matter.
12D.C - Moving Along
Students will apply the process of technological design to
explain the concepts of motion.

Students will apply the process of scientific inquiry to analyze

12F.C - Solar System Cycles
Students will apply the processes of technological design
to document the natural cycles and patterns in the solar system.
13A.C - Time Lapsed Observations
Students will apply scientific habits of mind by comparing
data sets from classroom observations and timed intervals.
13B.C - Science Reporter: Where in the
World is Science?
Students will play the role of a science reporter to explore
direct connections to science and technology in various real-world
applications.
