Learning Standards
The assessments are coded according to learning standard
and stage. Example: 14A.C is aligned to standard 14A, stage
C (third grade). Sample student work, when available, will
follow the assessment. Items indicated with (U) address United
States history; (W) address world history.

Good 
Prepare a chart about an historical figure that includes major
events, contributions and changes that person brought about.
14B18B.C - Local Laws Citizens Follow

Identify two laws in the community to illustrate and explain
why the laws are necessary.

Design the front and back of a tee shirt that promotes the
idea that democracy is cool.

Students define culture and collect information from home
to illustrate some of their family customs and traditions
by creating a cultural collage.

Create a chart and write a statement of the kinds of goods
and services offered in the community.

Create a chart of five personal wants, goods or services that
satisfied the wants and ways to pay for each without using
money.

Map 
Draw a map of the neighborhood around the school using icons
to identify physical and human characteristics and public
goods and services.

Yesterday 
Make a Venn diagram and write a brief statement to compare
and contrast family life in the past with family life today.

Read a story or article about Mahatma Gandhi and complete
a worksheet with information about Gandhi, the geography of
India/Pakistan and how these led to independence.
16CU.C - Jobs Past and Present
Show how jobs changed from the past to the present time.

Construct a timeline of the major developments in transportation
history and write a statement about how improvements in transportation
have brought about changes in the world.
16EU17B.C - Solving Environmental
Problems 
Draw a picture of an environmental problem in the community
and a picture of a possible solution(s) and write a short
explanation of the importance of the solution(s) for the community.
17C17D.C - Neighborhood of the Future

Draw a picture of the physical and human characteristics of
an area in the community as it appears today and what it could
look like in the future and write a statement explaining how
and why the changes would improve the area.
18C.C - Division of Labor 
Make a simple flow chart to illustrate the division of labor.
