Social Science Classroom Assessments Aligned to the Illinois
Learning Standards
The assessments are coded according to learning standard
and stage. Example: 14A.G is aligned to standard 14A, stage
G (seventh grade). Sample student work, when available, will
follow the assessment. Items indicated with (U) address United
States history; (W) address world history.

Create a display illustrating the principles of limited government
as outlined in the Declaration of Independence.

Write an essay describing the effects of river flooding on
people and property, and the ways that humans have attempted
