ISBE Microsoft Select Contract Extended Through February 28, 2013
The Microsoft Select Volume Licensing Agreement already in place for the Illinois State Board of Education has been extended by Microsoft through February 28, 2013. The Agreement covers public schools only. Non-public schools may be able to sign their own Select Agreements or use other Microsoft Academic Licensing Programs like Microsoft Academic Open License Program (MOLP) and Microsoft School Agreement to purchase software licensing for their schools.
All new Microsoft Select License-Software Assurance Product bundles purchased on or after 3/1/2010 under this extended Agreement will allow you to upgrade to Microsoft license versions released by Microsoft prior to February 28, 2013. You may purchase Software Assurance in a bundle with any new product licenses that you purchase. If you want to upgrade the licenses you already own and don’t have Software Assurance you will need to buy a new license in order to upgrade for all Microsoft products except for Operating System licenses that are Upgrade Licenses only.
If you purchased Software Assurance anytime in the past three years under the ISBE Select agreement you are eligible to renew your SA licenses with coverage through 2/28/2013. The deadline for placing SA renewal orders is March 31, 2010. Bell Techlogix provided SA renewal quotes to all known ISBE SA clients via email. Any license you purchase without Software Assurance will never expire. You continue to own the right to deploy the software for that specific version or prior versions of the software even though the original Select Agreement expires 2/28/10. Any purchases you make under the extended Select Agreement will have those same downgrade rights.
