Is your school interested in providing more fruits and vegetables to your students? If so, please read on and complete the grant application!
The purpose of this program is to increase fruit (both fresh and dried) and fresh vegetable consumption in elementary and secondary schools participating in the National School Lunch Program.
Twenty-five schools will be selected to receive a portion the total state award of $250,000. Grant funds awarded will be for the period of July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009.
To be considered for this grant you must complete the required application and return it to the Illinois State Board of Education no later than May 16, 2008. Please note this is a grant opportunity separate from The Department of Defense (DoD) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Schools that are currently part of the DoD program are also encouraged to apply for this grant.
