Private Business and Vocational Schools
The following is the Statement of Purpose from the Illinois
Compiled Statutes 105 ILCS 425 for the Private Business and
Vocational Schools Act, amended July 24, 1998:
§ 1.2. It is the purpose of this Act to provide for
the protection, education and welfare of the citizens of
the State of Illinois; to provide for the education, protection
and welfare of the students of its private business and
vocational schools; and to facilitate and promote quality
education and responsible, ethical business practices in
each of the private business and vocational schools enrolling
students in this State.
The Certificate of Approval must be displayed in a prominent
location at the school to serve as public notice that it meets
the minimum requirements of the law and may operate in the
State of Illinois. Schools must renew their approval status
annually through an application process which verifies their
continued compliance, success in delivering quality training
programs and financial stability. Application forms may
