​Reporting to the Supervisor, serves as a fiscal liaison to the Illinois State Board of Education Nutrition Department and the United States Department of Agriculture. Provides technical support by assigning unique identifiers to nongovernmental organizations seeking ISBE funding. Ensures conformity between ISBE and Illinois Office of the Comptroller systems.

  • ​Maintains records regarding meal count records for child nutrition. 
  • Maintains and applies adjustments from reviews, claim revisions and/or requested claim exceptions. 
  • Prepares and distributes correspondence to entities regarding late submissions and corrective action. 
  • Approves or denies claims that are transmitted after the regulated timeline. 
  • Maintains updates and additions of new entities within the entity system, Entity Profile System (EPS), Financial Reimbursement Information System (FRIS), Comptroller and Management Information Database Accounting System (MIDAS) vendor files. 
  • Serves as department contact for coordinating updates requested of all returned department correspondence from the United States Post Office or Comptroller's Office and completing applicable updates to EPS and MIDAS.
  • On a monthly basis, prepares required Federal Child Nutrition Reports (FNS-10, FNS-44 and FNS-418). 
  • Processes reports and vouchers for assigned FRIS programs.
  • Vouchers the calculation of the annual proration for the Illinois Free Lunch and Breakfast Program in FRIS once file has been calculated. 
  • As needed, completes testing in WINS for claim errors.
  • Maintains and distributes LOC/GADs from USDA.
  • Maintains payment and allotment transactions for child nutrition claim programs. 
  • Ensures voucher payments are made using the appropriate funding accounts. 
  • Requests fund transfers to appropriate accounts within the child nutrition system from the block account. 
  • Posts child nutrition check returns. 
  • Corresponds with USDA as necessary regarding funding and payment issues. 
  • Acts as contact for the Comptroller when warrant action, W-9 updates and voucher modifications are requested for FRIS projects.
  • Provides technical assistance via phone and correspondence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • ​Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Accounting, or Finance, or, a high school diploma with a combination of four years of education, experience and/or training related to the duties of this position. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Experience with accounting. 
  • Experience using Excel. 
  • Experience working with large systems of data. 
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external client groups. 
  • ​Working knowledge of federal and state regulations, laws and procedures related to nutrition programs and their administration. ​
