| | Director of Career and Technical Education #1546 | 1546 | Springfield | Exempt | CTE | $97,984 - $129,828 | $97,984 - $161,674 | Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. | December 16, 2024 | Open Until Filled | Reporting to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, provides leadership and advocates for equity for all students; integrates and executes the policies and expectations of the State Board of Education as the Director of CTE; directs, oversees and administers programs (e.g., agricultural education, Perkins and state CTE programming), operations and staff; provides leadership and support in programming and compliance for districts and other educational organizations throughout Illinois; provides leadership in cross functional department work (e.g., Data Strategies and Analytics) and cross functional agency work (e.g., Community College Board, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity); monitors and develops department budget.
| - Provides leadership and directs the overall functions and programs of the department including, but not limited to, CTE, agricultural education, and college and career readiness programming.
- Provides leadership, support, and resources in response to district needs.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities of staff to ensure the application and direction of agency policies, state/federal rules, guidelines and fiscal accountability.
- Represents and speaks accurately on behalf of the State Board of Education to school districts, educational organizations, other state/federal agencies, committees and the public concerning the interpretation of agency policies, procedures or actions.
- Initiates and models active and collaborative leadership in cross functional department and agency work with demonstrated improved outcomes for all children.
- Develops and implements policies, programs, procedures, and plans to ensure compliance with legislation and to improve the effectiveness of program implementation with demonstrated improved outcomes.
- Works with staff to develop and manage grants, contracts and budgets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
| - Bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- Multiple years of supervisory experience in school district, state education agency, research organization, nonprofit entity, state government, or university.
- Working knowledge of budgets and grants.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
| - Master's degree in Education or related field.
- Multiple years with and oversight of state and federal grants, contracts, budget development, and program monitoring.
- Familiarity with federal and state education reform initiatives.
- Familiarity with coordinating external partners.
- Familiarity with Career and Technical Education.
