The IEP Technical Assistance Center Supervisor leads and develops the educational and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for students with disabilities. This role will oversee compliance, direct professional development, manage funds related to this project, collect state data, stay informed of state-wide and national trends, and provide expert guidance on special education regulations (state and federal) for all Illinois LEAs. State-wide cyclical monitoring will also be supported by the position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • ​​Creates the center's strategic vision, oversees the budget for this project, grant and progress reporting, stakeholder engagement, and management of staff.
  • ​​Along with external and internal partners, designs and delivers professional development (creating a statewide cadence for professional development) workshops, and resources on Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) development and research and evidence-based special education best practices.
  • ​​Provides direct support and consultation to school districts to help implement and navigate special education compliance, consistency, and quality through strong policies and procedures.
  • ​​Ensures state and local agencies adhere to the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) state and federal mandates by supporting the cyclical monitoring process and cross collaboration with department and agency teams.
  • ​​Facilitates partnerships with state and national entities to develop a quality center, local and state stakeholders, family support agencies, and advocacy groups to ensure inclusive educational standards.
  • ​​Performs other duties as assigned.​
Required Qualifications
  • ​​​Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Administration or a related field. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • ​​​5-10 years of progressively responsible leadership or administrative experience in special education.
  • ​​​Experience writing IEP's for quality and compliance.
  • ​​​Expertise and deep working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, the IEP process, MTSS, cyclical monitoring, and corrective action planning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ​​Ed.S. or Ed.D.
  • ​Experience as a special education director, university teacher preparation, and professional development. ​
