School/District Leaders, Curriculum Directors, Teachers
The quarterly skills and knowledge documents are designed as a tool to assist teachers and school leaders in beginning the process of integrating the Common Core State Standards into existing curriculum. This document will help teachers design a quarterly plan which will highlight the introduciton of specific standards during each quarter. It should be noted that all of these standards are meant to be integrated throughout an entire school year continuously. This document only describes
certain standards will be introduced into an existing curriculum. Therefore, if a standard is checked as being introduced in term one, that standard should remain embedded in curriculum throughout the school year as other skills and knowledge are introduced-in this way each of the selected standards will build upon one another.
Suggested Use for this Document:
- District/school leadership may use this document as a starting point to create a plan that incorporates the standards into ELA curriculum for each semester.
- Read the standard in the left-hand column, and then check the term/quarter in which that standard will be introduced. Some of the standards may remain checked for all four terms, as a reminder to keep them integrated throughout the school year.
- District/School Leadership can use the completed document to align the skills checked for each term to the corresponding curricular materials for that term.
