In August 2000, a final regulation published in the Federal Register moved the procurement procedure requirements for the Child Nutrition and Wellness Programs from Department regulation 7 CFR Part 3015 to 7 CFR Parts 3016 and 3019. According to The School Code of Illinois, all food service management company contracts involving expenditures in excess of $25,000 must be competitively bid. Currently, vended meals contracts involving expenditures in excess of the $150,000 federal threshold must be competitively bid.
