​Reporting to the Director, applies ISBE equity tools and evaluations to all projects; integrates and executes the policies and expectations of the State Board of Education as the Project Lead for the Standards and Instruction department; provides support and leadership in cross-departmental and interagency projects; collaborates with department staff to quantify and qualify resources needed for administration and completion of projects; measures and communicates impacts and outcomes for projects and programs; facilitates decision making by Director and program staff related to projects; monitors reporting requirements of projects commensurate with agency and departmental expectations; develops and implements formal processes for project management to support improved communications, increased efficiency, and support timely completion of projects; develops project management plans; oversees projects for Department Director and the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning; provides timely status updates and reports on all projects as requested by management team members; assists with managing fiscal issues in the center for Teaching and Learning.

  • ​Implements project management strategies to advance the Agency's strategic goals and supports the Director and the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning. 
  • Provides leadership, support and resources in response to district and department staff needs.
  • Initiates and models active and collaborative leadership in cross-departmental and interagency work with demonstrated outcomes for all children (e.g., college and career, CTE, competency based education).
  • Provides assistance with the fiscal management and budget process for the department.
  • Represents and speaks accurately on behalf of the State Board of Education to school districts, educational organizations, other state/federal agencies, committees and the public concerning the interpretation of agency policies, procedures or actions.
  • Provides technical assistance and other support services in the areas of grants, contracts, requests for proposals, request for sealed proposals, invitations for bids, and Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) related activities for the department. 
  • Develops and recommends policies, programs, procedures, and plans to ensure implementation of related projects with consideration for equity and inclusivity.
  • Provides assistance for the Director of Standards and Instruction and department staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • ​Masters degree, or, Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Three years of experience (in addition to education requirements) with the management, administration, or leadership of projects. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Project management skills. 
  • ​Two years of experience in education (formal, informal, adult, or pre-k-12) or state agency. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft 365/Teams applications. 
  • Grant management skills. 
  • Familiarity with budget development, planning, implementation, and monitoring. 
  • Familiarity with writing requests for proposals. 
  • Familiarity with federal and state education initiatives. 
  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and presentation. 
  • Familiarity with curriculum and/or assessment.
