Students will research significant events in the state of Illinois to create a list of 200 facts starting with the number 1 and ending with the number 200. Example: the number 3 could be 3 state capitals, the number 102 could be 102 counties in the state. Teachers can adjust the specifics of the numbers and/or facts used based on current class content. The important components of the lesson are incorporating literacy and making math fun. To adjust this lesson to fit lower grades, students could work in groups and/or just do a few numbers each day.
