Electronic Grant Management System Available

eGMS is now available for all local education agencies.

(Springfield, IL) -- The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is pleased to announce that the Electronic Grant Management System (eGMS) is now available for all local education agencies.

The eGMS is the latest achievement for ISBE which has developed other Internet-based systems over the past six years to assist local education agencies. Other electronic systems include the General State Aid claim, Pupil Transportation claim, Expenditure Reports, Fall Housing Report, End of Year Report and Public School Calendar. eGMS will immediately benefit local education agencies by improving communication via email feedback as the grant moves through the approval process, improving the approval turnaround time of grant applications and improving the quality of the data submitted.

The first grant available under eGMS is the FY 2005 NCLB Consolidated Application which includes the following grants:

  • Title I, Part A, Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged
  • Title II, Part A, Teacher Quality
  • Title II, Part D, Enhancing Education Through Technology (formula grant)
  • Title IV, Part A, Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities
  • Title V, Part A, Innovative Programs

Within the first hour and a half of the system being available, over 100 individuals accessed eGMS. Belvidere School District #100 was the first district to complete an application and have it approved through all appropriate channels.

Local education agencies need to make sure that their approval groups are properly assigned through IWAS in order to access eGMS to submit an application.

ISBE has also developed an eGMS Training CD for the 2004-2005 NCLB Consolidated Application which includes a User Guide. The eGMS User Guide and Training presentations from the CD may be accessed at http://www.isbe.net/egms/video.htm.

For additional copies of the information mentioned above, or for technical assistance with eGMS, individuals should contact the ISBE Call Center staff at 217/558-3600 or via email at help@isbe.net. Staff are available Monday – Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
