​Literacy Squared Cohort is a free professional development cohort sponsored by the Multilingual/Language Development Department for districts that receive Title III Language Instruction Education Program (LIEP) funding. This cohort is geared to K-5 educators and administrators looking to build more in-depth knowledge of the Comprehensive Biliteracy Model. The purpose of the Literacy Squared Cohort is to use the train-the-trainer model to build local capacity to implement and strengthen dual language programs and promote biliteracy development among English Learners. Literacy Squared is a comprehensive biliteracy program that has been designed to accelerate the development of biliteracy in Spanish-English speaking students. The Literacy Squared model includes authentic instructional approaches in Spanish and English that respect and focus on the internal structures of each of the languages, emphasizing direct, explicit, and collaborative instructional approaches that have proven to be beneficial for emerging bilingual children.

2024-2025 Literacy Squared Cohort Schedule

Literacy Squared will be meeting in person for a portion of school year 2024-2025. The dates below are finalized, please plan accordingly. Invitations have been emailed and the​ FY 25 Literacy Squar​ed Cohort 10 applicationPDF Documentis now available.
