The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is expanding and enhancing the
Illinois Educator Preparation Profile (IEPP) to include all educator preparation programs offered by Illinois educator preparation providers (EPPs). This initiative, aligned with
ISBE's Strategic Plan Goal 1.4.2, strengthens data systems, refines performance indicators, and advances transparency and accountability across educator preparation pathways.
The IEPP enhancement and expansion will result in comprehensive accountability metrics for all preparation programs, higher-quality and streamlined data collection and reporting, improved usability and transparency of public-facing data, and stronger alignment between educator preparation and student learning needs.
Our work to enhance and expand the IEPP is strengthened by the expertise and collaboration of key partners. The Illinois Workforce and Education Research Collaborative (IWERC), housed within the University of Illinois system, contributes applied research in workforce development and educator preparation, helping ensure the IEPP remains aligned with evolving educational and workforce needs. The American Institutes for Research (AIR), a nationally recognized organization with deep expertise in education research and evaluation, serves as a thought partner and strategic advisor—supporting ISBE in evaluating, refining, and expanding the Illinois Educator Preparation Profile (IEPP). In addition, MSFW, a leading consulting firm specializing in educational data and systems, serves as the project’s technical expert by supporting data system design, streamlining data collection processes, and enhancing the overall user experience.
Together, these partnerships and education community collaborations drive the successful development and implementation of the IEPP expansion.
