Public school districts must display McKinney-Vento posters in all schools. Students who are eligible for McKinney-Vento services must be immediately enrolled and begin fully participating in school.
Before Schools can be certain they are complying with the legislation related to education students experiencing homelessness, they must understand who can be considered homeless.
ISBE will release allocations of American Rescue Plan (ARP) -- Homeless Children and Youth (HCY) Part II funds in fall 2021. These funds are to support efforts to identify homeless children and youth and provide them with comprehensive, wrap-around services that address needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and allow them to attend school and participate fully in all school activities.
