The Illinois Committee for Agricultural Education (commonly ICAE) is a group of professionals tasked with advising the Illinois State Board of Education on agricultural education. Pursuant to Illinois School Code, (105 ILCS 5/2-3.80), the thirteen-member committee is composed of members representing the following groups: six members from ILCAE, two secondary agricultural teachers, one agricultural literacy representative, one community college agricultural teacher, one adult agricultural education teacher, one university agricultural teacher, and one FFA representative. ICAE is created to at least develop a curriculum and overview of the implementation of the Build Illinois through Quality Agricultural EducationPDF Document plans of the Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education and to advise the State Board of Education on Agricultural Education. Recommendations to the State Board of Education shall include, but not be limited to, the development of a curriculum and a strategy for the purpose of establishing a source of trained and qualified individuals in agriculture, a strategy for articulating the State program in agricultural education throughout the public-school system, and a consumer education outreach strategy regarding the importance of agriculture in Illinois. ​The Illinois Committee for Agricultural Education (ICAE) is considered a public body in the State of Illinois and as such must comply with the Open Meetings Act. This quick reference guide was created for any group that would like to include ICAE members in listserv mailings or meetings. For more information, please refer to the OMA Quick Reference Guide for ICAEPDF Document. Anyone is welcome to submit public comments during ICAE meetings in accordance with OMA.

 Committee Members

​Membership of the Illinois Committee for Agricultural Education (ICAE) will be managed by the Office of Executive Appointments. ICAE members are confirmed by the Illinois Senate. The term of membership is 3 years. To nominate yourself for membership, use the Nominate Yourself Form on the Office of Executive Appointments website.​
