The data in this report is collected annually from all Illinois school districts via a survey every fall.  Each district reports its unfilled positions as of October 1 of the reporting year. This report highlights all unfilled positions (such as Administrative, School Support Personnel, and Teaching) reported to the Illinois State Board of Education for school year prior to 2023.

Unfilled Positions 2017-2021

*In accordance with 34 CFR 682.210(q)(6), teacher shortage areas include “Adult Education,” “Reading Specialist,” and all teaching positions except “Head Teacher”.
