Welcome to the Illinois State Board of Education Data Portal: Educator Workforce Insights

This portal provides comprehensive data and analysis on the educator workforce in Illinois, with a particular focus on supply and demand trends and unfilled positions across the state's public schools. Designed to support district leaders, policymakers, and education stakeholders, the site features key resources such as the Educator Supply and Demand Report, the Unfilled Positions dataset, and the Educator Shortage Dashboard.

The Educator Supply and Demand Report, published triennially, offers detailed insights into staffing trends by role, subject area, and region, helping identify areas of oversupply and critical shortages. The Unfilled Positions data, collected annually from all Illinois school districts, highlights vacancies in teaching, administrative, paraprofessional, and support roles as of October 1 each year.

Educator Supply and Demand

The triennial Educator Supply and Demand Report contains data regarding the relative supply and demand for education staff in Illinois public schools. The data is sourced from ISBE, the Employee Information System (EIS), Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS), and Student Information System (SIS).

Unfilled Positions Data

The data in this report is collected annually from all Illinois school districts via a survey every fall.  Each district reports its unfilled positions as of October 1 of the reporting year. This report highlights all unfilled positions (such as Administrative, School Support Personnel, and Teaching) reported to the Illinois State Board of Education for school year 2025.
