  • The electronic Charter Schools Program - QSO Program Design and Initial Implementation Request for Proposals (RFP) for Cohort III is now available through ISBE’s IWAS system. This subgrant opportunity can provide funding for the design and initial start-up costs of a new charter school. To be eligible to apply, applicants must have submitted an application to or have been approved to open by an authorizer. All applications must be submitted electronically to ISBE by 4p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018. Any applicants interested in applying will need to submit the Letter of Intent to Apply Form in order to gain electronic access to the RFP. The Letter of Intent to Apply and PDF screenshots of the electronic RFP/application are included below.   • The Charter Schools Program – Cohort II Dissemination Request for Proposals (RFP) has been moved from August 2017 to December 2017. The shift in timeline will allow ISBE to create a more efficient submission process.  To be eligible to apply, applicants must have an executed charter agreement with a local school board and have been open for student attendance for three years or longer.   • 2015 CSP Grants Competition for Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools (Closed 7/15/15)
    The U.S. Department of Education's Charter Schools Program (CSP) recently announced the 2015 CSP Grants Competition for Replication and Expansion of High-Quality Charter Schools. The deadline for transmittal of applications was July 15, 2015. This program is designed to assist non-profit charter management organizations, and other entities that are not for-profit entities, in replicating or expanding high-quality charter schools with demonstrated records of success.   • Charter Schools Program Non State Educational Agencies (Non-SEA) Grant Program (Closed 6/6/12)
    The Charter Schools Program (CSP) recently announced a new grant competition for charter schools and charter school development teams: the Charter Schools Program Non State Educational Agencies (Non-SEA) Grant Program. The deadline for transmittal of applications was June 6, 2012. Under this grant competition, the CSP provides grants directly to charter schools to plan, design, and complete the initial implementation of their school. This program also provides funds to charter schools that have been in operation for at least 3 consecutive years to support dissemination activities (i.e., assisting other schools in adapting the charter school’s program or dissemination of information about the charter school).   • Replication and Expansion for High-Quality Charter Schools Grant Competition (Closed 5/7/12)
    The Charter Schools Program (CSP) recently announced a new grant competition for nonprofit CMOs and other not-for-profit entities:  the Replication and Expansion for High-Quality Charter Schools grant competition.  The deadline for transmittal of applications was May 7, 2012.  Under this grant competition, the CSP awards money to non-profit charter management organizations that have demonstrated success, including improved academic achievement. Grant money may be used to expand enrollment of one or more existing charter schools, or to open one or more new charter schools based on the model for which the eligible applicant has presented evidence of success.   • The Charter Schools Program Dissemination of Best Practices and Effective Innovation Grants FY 2017 Request for Proposal (RFP) is now available.  These subgrants are available to existing charter schools that have been opened three years or longer and have demonstrated strong student success in their programs with respect to student body diversity or student achievement and educational innovation.  The documents included below, the RFP Memo and the Charter Schools Dissemination FY 2017 RFP State Grant Assistance Application, contain the general overview of the subgrants, eligibility guidance, required components of the application and the application itself.  All applications must be delivered in paper format to the Illinois State Board of Education no later than 4:00 pm, on Tuesday February 14, 2017.  Any questions should be directed to charter@isbe.net.
