In 2020, ISBE moved to the full implementation of Annual Program Reporting (APR) after a two-year pilot known as Partnership for Educator Preparation (PEP). Annual Program Reporting consists of all Illinois higher education institutions with teacher, administrator, and school support preparation programs submitting data to ISBE about their candidates. In return, ISBE will share analysis reports of that data back to each institution for administrators to explore strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement within their programs. To learn more about the process that went into where Illinois is now in data reporting, visit the Partnership for Educator Preparation (PEP) site.

The goal of Annual Program reporting is to ensure all new Illinois teachers are learner-ready on day one in the classroom, and that data is used as a tool for continuous improvement to strengthen teacher preparation statewide.

Accountability

The IEPP and the reauthorization process will highlight programs that are producing strong learner-ready teachers and will also help struggling programs seek assistance and improve their effectiveness. Beginning with the 2022 IEPP, reports will have formal regulatory consequences for renewal and continued approval.
