Health Sciences and Technology careers focus on the care and improvement of human health and well-being.  These careers involve direct patient treatment/care, as well as research, diagnostic, and support services.  Healthcare is generally performed in hospitals, clinics, or assisted or long-term care facilities.  With rapid technological advances and high demand, healthcare is increasingly provided in patient’s homes.  Advances in healthcare are allowing patients to receive better care and live longer, more productive lives.

The information below highlights HST programs available for Illinois schools to offer, guidance for starting a program, applicable rules and regulations, and resources for schools and teachers.  Check back often for additional resources added throughout the 4-year Perkins V State Plan for CTE.
