The State Funding and Forecasting (SFF) Division is charged with three primary functions.  SFF staff performs calculations to determine the primary State contribution to K-12 public education.  Previously, this was through General State Aid, but effective August 31, 2017 under PA 100-0465, this has changed to Evidence-Based Funding (EBF).  SFF staff also performs calculations to forecast education costs to assist with budget setting and to inform the State Board, lawmakers and the Governor of predicted costs to consider when drafting annual budget bills.  SFF seeks to prepare and provide information for school administrators and policy makers to assist in informed decision making.  Finally, SFF staff will be charged with assisting the Professional Review Panel formed under PA 100-0465 to determine any further refinements to the distribution system.
