On July 12, 2016, Governor Bruce Rauner created the Illinois School Funding Reform Commission to make recommendations to the General Assembly to revise the current school funding formula by February 1, 2017.
The Commission is
comprised of 25 members designated by the Governor and the legislative leaders. James Meeks, Chairman of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), will facilitate the Commission’s work with the support of his staff.
Evidence-Based Funding Proposal (2/2/17)
This preliminary mechanism does not reflect the final recommendations of the Funding Commission. The mechanism includes draft distributions to 12 public school districts under the Evidence-Based Funding Proposal.
