A school district may establish a program to recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more language in addition to English, by designating on a student’s transcript and high school diploma his or her receipt of the State Seal of Biliteracy, provided that all the conditions of this Section are met.
Districts that have indicated their intention to award the State Seal of Biliteracy in the 2018-19 school year.
The final awards report for the 2018-19 State Seal of Biliteracy will be collected on ISBE's Student Information System (SIS) and not via a spreadsheet, as in years past. More information will be shared soon. The report will be due September 1, 2019.
Districts that participate in the program must submit a final report to ISBE no later than 30 days after the end of the school year. The report consists of two parts including a PDF form and a spreadsheet with student information. Send the report form below as a PDF and the student awards template as an Excel file. The template below may be used for this purpose. For a secure transmission of the two files, use "Send ISBE a file" on the ISBE website and choose Beth Robinson from the Receiver Information drop-down list.
