FY 2027 Feasibility Study
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is accepting applications for the fiscal year 2027 School District Reorganization Feasibility Study Grant Program. The school board of each district involved in a feasibility study must approve a resolution to initiate a study. The districts that are involved will submit a proposed agreement with an independent contractor(s) to their Regional Office of Education (ROE) or Intermediate Service Center (ISC), which will then submit the agreement to ISBE for approval.
The state allotment amount for FY 2027 studies will be the cost of the study, up to a maximum of $16,000. Any study cost above the state funding will be the responsibility of the participating districts.
Applications will be reviewed and awarded per 23 Ill. Adm. Code 705. Please note that approval by the ROE/ISC does not guarantee that the study will be funded. In awarding grant funds, the state superintendent of education will prioritize applications received by Dec. 15 according to the criteria in Section 705.40. Applicants will be notified of the amount of the grant award, if any, via email to the superintendent of the principal district. If additional funds are available after the initial grants are awarded, any applications received within the applicable fiscal year will be reviewed and considered for an award.
