​Reporting to the Supervisor, performs work ranging from moderate to considerable complexity applying practices and technical expertise in the areas of nutrition, financial management, and child nutrition program management; coordinates monitoring programs with LEAs, ROEs, and other sponsoring organizations for the purpose of determining fiscal and programmatic compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations, agency guidelines and the enhancement of the quality of the programs. (This position will work primarily in Cook county. Residency for this position is required within Northern Cook, Lake or DuPage county- to commence no later than 30 days following the date of hire).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • ​Independently, or as a member or leader of a team, conducts monitoring reviews of school food authorities, child care centers, child care home providers and other community organizations to determine fiscal and programmatic compliance with child nutrition program rules and regulations and generally accepted business practices.
  • Initiates the development of monitoring objectives and scope.
  • Coordinates schedules and timelines related to the completion of cyclical monitoring activities.
  • Develops and drafts findings and recommendations.
  • Compiles and writes detailed reports of work performed including findings and recommendations.
  • Performs quality control reviews of peers work.
  • Ensures adequate resolution of findings by participating institutions.
  • Provides technical assistance to school food authorities, child care centers, other community organizations and agency staff.
  • Serves as a primary contact for school food authorities, child care centers, other community organizations and agency staff on fiscal, nutrition and programmatic issues related to child nutrition programs.
  • Develops and implements project assignments.
  • Assists in the development of departmental information systems and the gathering of department data.
  • Develops and presents training to school food authorities, child care centers, and other community organizations related to child nutrition programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • ​Masters degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Social Services, or, a Bachelors degree plus two years of relevant professional experience in one of the listed areas. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) in nutrition, food service management, business administration, accounting, finance, economics or social services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability in nutrition, food service management, business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or social services.
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting multi-task assignments and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must have a valid Illinois drivers license and the ability to travel extensively. 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food services and/or review (monitoring) practices and procedures.​
