Welcome to the North Chicago School District 187 Independent Authority website. The purpose of this website is to keep the community informed about the activities, decisions, and responsibilities of the Independent Authority. To promote transparency and public awareness, meeting schedules, agendas, and official actions of the panel will be posted regularly.

North Chicago Transition Plan

The Illinois State Board of Education voted at a meeting held on September 21, 2022, to begin the transition of North Chicago SD 187 to an elected school board. The locally-elected members of the Independent Authority are:

The Independent Authority meetings are scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of the month except for those months that conflict with a national holiday or school break. All regular joint board meetings will be held at South Elementary School, 2301 Kemble Avenue. Open session will be convened at 6 p.m.
