The Special Education Department in collaboration with the ISBE-funded grant project Illinois Special Education Leadership Academy (ISELA) holds an annual statewide conference for special education directors and administrators. During this two-day conference, presentations provide attendees with regulatory compliance updates, technical assistance, and best practice information in special education.

The Special Education Directors Conference is an annual event hosted by the ISBE Special Education Department for State-Approved Directors of Special Education, nonpublic special education facility administrators, and other educators who support students with disabilities.
This two-day conference features a keynote speaker each day, along with multiple breakout sessions focused on special education regulations, ISBE compliance requirements, and other topics of interest to special education administrators.
